I am a mother of three grown children and a grandmother of seven grandchildren. We live in the Eastern part of Washington and utilize Farmer Markets and put up fresh food for the winter. We would love to move back home (Texas) and start ranching and farm life again.

Wow I only just found the SOS group on facebook this week, and have joined up all the other spring-offs I’ve seen since – including this forum. I’m Diabetic (t2) currently on meds but trying to control it enough to hopefully get off the meds in future. I was doing well until 2020 when all we could find in the stores were things like rice, pasta, etc. And after eating portion control of those always stocked items for a year, my A1C was up way too high. So here I am wondering what I *can* store and how, and learning from others who are in the same boat, or have experience with gardening (I’m an apartment dweller, so I don’t have a garden) and canning and putting things away for “rainy days” in general. Thank you so much!

      Hello!

I only recently found the SOS groups but love them! Child of a survivalist and someone who grew up in the mountains with no indoor plumbing or electricity. I grew up learning a lot, but only just recently started stocking up. (I never had space before)

I mostly freeze, and dehydrate. I was too disinterested to learn canning when I was a child. My plan is to learn soon! Excited to learn and share what I know!

Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m 42 and I live in Washington state, a little north of Seattle. I’m getting my doctorate in Emergency Management and currently run a local disaster-prep group of over 2000 neighbors. I’m also an extreme couponer and glitch shopper, and have been into basic homesteading ever since I was a little girl. Making use of everything is my passion. I’m a wife, mother of 2 grown kids, grandmother to 1, animal lover. I’m neurodivergent and have a billion hobbies and passions. I also assist 7 elderly relatives with maintaining their household needs.

Hello all. I’m Jenn. Wife to one. Mother to four, mostly grown. I live in Northern Nevada and work a full time remote job as an accountant. Discovered SOS about a year ago when I bought a Nesco/Carey canner. Have always kept a stocked pantry but have delved into canning and dehydrating over the last year. Love learning from all the lovely people in these groups. ❤️❤️

Hi, My name is Robyn. I am a stay home mom to 6 kids. My Husband is a carpenter. We are currently living in WA near Seattle, but we are from Alaska. I have been trying to learn about prepping for a little while now but I am a slow learner. I learn better hands on than by just reading about it. But I will take what I can get right now. So I am here to learn and reap what I can! Thanks so much for making this forum.

Hi I’m Amanda. I’m the Director of a 501c3 nonprofit dog and horse rescue.

I’m here to share and gain knowledge, in order to best provide for my family & the animals in my care (our entire farm included).

We raise a flock of hair sheep, have a couple of retired horses, a pack of Great Danes, one German Shepherd, ducks, chickens, geese, donkeys, and I’m sure I’m totally missing someone.

We have 3 adult daughters, and one Angel son.

I have multiple sclerosis, so the summer growing season is very hard on me. We failed at getting a garden put in this year. We don’t have much financially, and I’m worried we are going to get caught with our pants down, so to speak.

Hi! I am living off-grid in SE Alaska. We have two young adult sons and a 6 year old daughter. Recently “retired” and doing many projects on the homestead to be prepared and ready for whatever comes our way.

Hello, im a grandmother of 7, raising an autistic grandson and caregiver to a disabled Veteran. We are also homeschoolers. I’m a photographer, hiker, camper and was raised in Tellico Plains, TN. We reside in Johnson City, TN now. I now own property in Tellico and Delano TN and will someday make the move home. I habe been dehydrating some things and stocking up frozen items but have not started canning yet. I am still figuring it out and we are on a tight budget.

      Hi.

Malissa here. I have 2 kids, 24 and almost 6, and 2 dogs (Aussie and German mixes). I’ve been married 25 years this month. My hubby is IT for Cigna.

I have always been a bit of a survivalist, but started “prepping” maybe 5 years ago. I started with extra food for a week or so, “just in case” and now strive for more. I do not know how to can, we do not raise any animals, no wells, any of that. I do garden a little, grow peppers and tomatoes and the like.

We just moved from my home state of New Mexico to Indianapolis, so I am out of my element but trying to do the best with what I have!

Hi Ya’ll. What to say. I am 65 and I guess I am what you would call a watcher (meaning I am always reading and researching to see what is going on to try and prepare). I just feel if I do not know what is going on I cannot protect my loved ones. I feel an urgent need to share information that I learn to others. I do not ask others to believe me or what info I put up but for them to RESEARCH and find the answers. There is so much censorship out there it is hard to get both sides of an issue. I try to find the truth and make up my own mind and NOT let the media and big tech influence me. There is so much going on in this Country that we are not being told about. Did you know they are going to build carbon pipelines through Americas farm belt!? I will stop now. I am busting with information that I want to share. I love my Country and I do not want to see it destroyed. I love my family and friends and do not want to see them suffer. Information is critical to saving our world. Ok I will shut up now. Thank you Kristin for letting me know of this forum.
